A healthy gut is vital for overall health. Your gut is home for trillions of gut microbiota which supply essential nutrients, and are critical for a functioning immune system and efficient gut barrier. An imbalanced gut microbiome or “dysbiosis” is associated with many health conditions and can impact weight gain, inflammation, hormonal fluctuations, and mental wellbeing. Saxenda is the name for a weight loss medication called liraglutide, made by Novo Nordisk. It is a self-injectable medication similar to your own gut hormone GLP-1, which controls hunger. It works mostly on the brain and appetite centre to help you feel less hungry during the day and more easily satisfied after a meal, which can help you control those pesky cravings that hinder your success! Saxenda is most commonly recommended to people with a BMI of 30+ or a BMI of 27-29 with other health complications, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea.

Belkyra® is a prescription only medicine which when injected below the chin, breaks down fat, resulting in a more contoured neck profile and jawline. Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the fullness in this area will not go away.
The double chin injections contain a product which contains deoxycholic acid, found naturally in the body, and helps absorb fat in food. The product is injected into the fat in the double chin area and permanently destroys the fat cells by a process known as adipocytolysis. Once the fat cells have been destroyed they cannot accumulate and store fat again. Imagine your fat cells are balloons and double chin injections are darts. Injecting the product under the chin is like throwing a dart at fat cells. Once they have been popped they cannot be blown up again.

As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the treated area, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo fat dissolving injections treatment. However it is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or are immunocompromised for any reason including type 1 diabetes.
The results of fat dissolving injections treatment are permanent as long as you maintain a constant weight measurement i.e. you eat healthily, exercise regularly, and do not gain weight.
Because fat dissolving injections targeting double chin removal is a non-surgical treatment ( no incisions or stitches required), there are no general anaesthetic risks and scarring is very unlikely. People treated will typically experience minimal side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction. There is likely to be swelling, bruising and tenderness which lasts 7 days after treatment.
It is advisable when choosing this treatment to allow some time off work for the swelling to decrease as it may be quite pronounced.
Do not apply any cosmetics to the treated area within a 12-hour period. Avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation e.g. sunlight, UV radiation, saunas. You should also abstain from particularly demanding physical exercise for 7 days.
As the released fatty acids are converted into additional energy, it is especially important that you keep a healthy diet, otherwise your body will simply store the fat in an alternative fat depot.
The ideal candidate for fat dissolving injection treatment already lives a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet, but has one troublesome pocket of fat that simply won’t disappear.
